Crisis Intervention
Unfortunately, in today's society, students are more and more frequently
confronted by extremely upsetting and even traumatic events. Issues going from
terrorist attacks to student attacks, environmental catastrophes, and to the
more common, but still painfully difficult to deal with, accidents, deaths, and
inappropriate behaviors by adults in their lives. And, while school personnel
are frequently the first and foremost responders, they, too, are often struggling
to comprehend these events themselves as well as grappling with how to deal with
them. In these situations, an experienced school psychologist can intervene to
work directly with administration and faculty in understanding and dealing with
their own feelings, with students and their feelings, and in helping the administration
and faculty in working with the students on a continuing basis.
Teacher Training
School Administrators who are conscientious and desirous of keeping their faculties
up-to-date and motivated schedule "Teacher In-Service" Days. We provide
an exceptional addition to those programs! We offer a presentation that is
stimulating, interactive, thought provoking and a way for teachers to not
only create a powerful, dynamic, positive impact in their classrooms, but
to become happier with themselves and the work they do. Teachers walk away
with, in addition to tools and insights, concrete techniques on how to be
more effective on a one to one basis as well as establishing a richer, more
creative learning environment. They can then take that basic, practical information
and make it come alive in the classroom!
Administrative Enhancement
A school is like any other management situation. Administrators, having expertise in education, need also to have expertise and ease in knowing how to create a supportive, comfortable environment so that all those working in their school, from custodial staff, to support staff, to faculty, enjoy coming to work and work to their fullest for the benefit of the students and the success of the institution. Sometimes there are just little techniques and suggestions that can help one change difficult situations into ones that can be handled with ease. An effective workshop can provide many tools and understanding. Additionally, having the opportunity to meet on a regular basis to air questions, problems, concerns, and grievances can often pave the way to deeper realizations, a happier state of being, and a smoother running facility.
Interstaff Relationship Development
Communication and relationships among staff have a powerful impact on the functioning of a classroom, a grade, and a school. Learning to ease tensions, enhance communications, and increase a sense of comradery and teamwork, will all provide a better climate for learning. Some of these goals can be achieved through a dynamic, informative, interactive workshop, while an on-going dialogue can achieve long-lasting deeper insights and far reaching improvement.
Parenting
Providing Parenting guidance is the goal of many schools. Parenting presentations
on various topics are an effective tool in involving parents in their children's
school career as well as developing more interest in the school itself and
can help enhance the parents’ understanding and desire of building an effective
parent/school dynamic. Ongoing Parenting Support Groups are something many
schools are providing, either with regard to parenting in general or for
parents of particular populations, such as parents of children with ADD/ADHD,
parents of children who are on the Asperger's/Autism spectrum, as well as
those with Eating Disorders or Substance Abuse issues.
